Emmerdale's Georgia Jay Shares First Photo of Baby Daughter Nora
Emmerdale star Georgia Jay reveals baby daughter photo

Emmerdale star Georgia Jay has delighted her social media followers by sharing the very first picture of her baby daughter, just days after revealing she had kept the birth a secret for months.

A Secret Summer Arrival

The actress, best known for playing Steph Miligan in the ITV soap, originally announced her pregnancy to fans in June. However, she waited until New Year's Day to finally confirm that her daughter, named Nora, had actually been born shortly after that initial announcement, making her around seven months old now.

On Monday, Jay posted a touching black and white photograph to Instagram, captured by professional photographer Anja Tilden. The image shows the 33-year-old actress affectionately cradling her first child. She simply captioned the post: 'Nora. June.'

Co-Star Congratulations Flood In

Following her New Year revelation, Jay was inundated with warm messages from her Emmerdale colleagues. Beth Cordingly, who portrays her on-screen mother Ruby Fox-Miligan, wrote: 'You are perfect and so is she. Love you x.'

Fellow cast member Laura Norton, who plays Kerry Wyatt, added her congratulations, commenting: 'Yay congrats gorgeous' alongside three heart emojis.

Back in June, announcing her pregnancy, Jay had told her Instagram followers: 'As you’ve probably guessed, I’ve got some news to share! I know some of you have been wondering if you’ve been seeing a little bump on screen lately… well, it’s not your imagination... I’m having a baby!'

Emmerdale Exits and Storylines

Viewers saw Jay's character Steph temporarily leave the village in August, a storyline move that coincided with the actress's real-life maternity leave.

The news of Jay's growing family comes alongside other cast changes on the popular Yorkshire-based drama. It has been reported that actor Joe Absolom has filmed his final scenes as the villainous Ray Walters. His character, alongside his on-screen mother Celia Daniels played by Jaye Griffiths, is set to depart ahead of the show's major Coronation Street crossover event.

A source stated that while bosses knew Absolom's stint was limited, they 'definitely made the most of having someone of his calibre in the village.' Meanwhile, Jaye Griffiths' character Celia is also leaving, but is expected to leave 'chaos and secrets' in her wake for other villagers to deal with.
