Clint Eastwood has spoken out to denounce a recent interview attributed to him as entirely fabricated. The 95-year-old actor and director told Deadline that he never spoke to the Austrian publication Kurier, which claimed to have conducted an interview with him.
“I can confirm I turned 95. I can also confirm that I never gave an interview to an Austrian publication called Kurier, or any other writer in recent weeks, and that the interview is entirely phony,” Eastwood said.
The fake interview quoted Eastwood as saying, “We live in an era of remakes and franchises. I’ve shot sequels three times, but I haven’t been interested in that for a long while. My philosophy is: do something new or stay home.” Eastwood’s career spans decades, with iconic roles in films such as The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, Dirty Harry, and Million Dollar Baby, as well as directing credits including Unforgiven and Gran Torino.
His most recent directorial project, Juror No. 2, was released in November 2024, while his last on-screen appearance was in 2021’s Cry Macho. Eastwood’s son, Scott Eastwood, recently spoke about his father’s resilience, describing him as “a survivor, a trouper” who doesn’t complain.
