Researchers are advocating for the implementation of a "chairside" HbA1c finger-prick blood test, which delivers results within a mere six minutes, to be offered to dental patients who display significant risk factors. These risk factors include advanced age, the presence of gum disease, or a high body mass index (BMI).
Study Findings at Guy's Dental Hospital
A pivotal study conducted with patients at Guy's Dental Hospital revealed that 35 per cent of those without a prior diabetes diagnosis exhibited signs of either diabetes or prediabetes.
