Gordon Ramsay Dines With Ex-Protege Marcus Wareing, Ending 16-Year Feud
Ramsay and Wareing end 16-year feud with Notting Hill dinner

Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay has provided the ultimate proof that his long-running and very public feud with former protégé Marcus Wareing is finally over. The pair, alongside their wives, were spotted enjoying a convivial dinner together at the upmarket Dorian restaurant in London's Notting Hill over the weekend.

A Notting Hill Reconciliation

The 59-year-old Ramsay and his wife Tana, 51, were seen hand-in-hand with Wareing, 55, and his spouse Jane, marking a significant step in repairing a relationship that had been fractured for more than 16 years. The outing follows a private reconciliation dinner the two chefs had back in February, where they both posted a photo from a mystery kitchen, signalling the end of hostilities.

For the evening, Gordon opted for a smart grey jacket, while Tana chose a chic all-black ensemble paired with trainers. The relaxed double date stands in stark contrast to the decades of animosity that defined their professional relationship after a dramatic falling out.

From Best Man to Bitter Rivals

The depth of their former friendship makes the feud's longevity all the more remarkable. Ramsay was best man at Wareing's wedding in the year 2000 and is godfather to his eldest child. Their professional partnership spanned 15 years, with Wareing rising from sous chef at Ramsay's famed Aubergine restaurant to head chef of their joint venture, Pétrus, which earned two Michelin stars.

The relationship soured in 2008 when Wareing sought to go solo and take over the lease at London's Berkeley Hotel, sparking a legal battle. Ramsay retained the Pétrus name, while Wareing opened his own restaurant at The Berkeley. Wareing has since admitted, "It was me who started it. I picked a fight... And, well, it got nasty." He described working for Ramsay as "mental torture," alleging the fiery chef would "verbally kick the s*** out of you" before buying you a beer.

Feud Overshadowed by New Family Drama

The rapprochement with Wareing offers Ramsay a positive personal headline amid an ongoing and very public dispute involving his daughter's upcoming wedding. Holly Ramsay is set to marry Olympic champion swimmer Adam Peaty in a Christmas wedding at Bath Abbey. However, the celebrations have been marred by a bitter row with the Peaty family.

The tension reportedly began at the couple's engagement party, which was filmed for Gordon Ramsay's upcoming Netflix documentary. It escalated when Adam's mother, Caroline, was not invited to Holly's hen do at Soho Farmhouse. In a dramatic move, Adam Peaty has since disinvited all of his relatives from the wedding except for his sister, Bethany.

Peaty recently broke his silence on the family rift via Instagram, stating, "There are always two sides to every story," and confirming he, Holly, and Bethany "will get through" the challenging times. He also cited an ongoing police investigation into unspecified serious matters.

Meanwhile, Marcus Wareing, who retired from the restaurant scene last year but remains a judge on BBC's MasterChef: The Professionals, has reflected on the feud with surprising positivity. He recently stated that the row with Ramsay was "the best thing that ever happened to them," pushing him to find new ambition. For now, London's culinary world watches as two of its most famous sons finally lay down their knives—for good.
