Comedian Mo Gilligan Addresses Fatherhood and Family Life
Stand-up comedian Mo Gilligan has publicly discussed his journey as a father to two young children, directly addressing past controversies surrounding his family life. The 37-year-old entertainer, who recently became a father for the second time, spoke openly during a comedy routine in a South London pub about both his son with ex-partner Selina Christoforou and his newborn daughter with fiancée Taia Tulher.
Responding to Online Criticism
Mo Gilligan directly confronted claims made by his former partner, model Selina Christoforou, who had previously taken to TikTok to describe him as a 'deadbeat dad' and accused him of not being sufficiently present for their 22-month-old son, Rudi. Despite these public allegations, Mo chose to take the high road during his performance, praising both his son and the child's mother. He told the audience, "I'm not here to disrespect. That's the mother of my child," adding that his son is "a very, very lovely boy" who has "a good mum."
The comedian emphasised that he would never disrespect Christoforou as she is raising his son, even joking that fans might now assume any showbiz work he undertakes is to provide for his child. This comes after a source revealed that Mo sees his son "semi-regularly", a detail that emerged following Christoforou's explosive social media post where she insisted you "can't make someone be a dad."
Embracing Life as a Father of Two
Gilligan also shared his experiences of "getting used" to being a dad of two, following the birth of his daughter with his fiancée, Taia Tulher. He described his baby girl as "absolutely lovely" and revealed that fatherhood has fundamentally changed his perspective on life. Fatherhood has given him "a sense of purpose" he didn't have before.
"As much as life goes left and right and your career can go different places, I kind of always do it for my family because they keep me the most grounded," he explained to the crowd. He reflected on how his previous worries seemed insignificant compared to now, calling the experience of parenthood an "amazing joy" that is hard to comprehend until you have children yourself.
The engagement to Tulher was announced in August, a period that coincided with the news breaking about his son with Christoforou. A source close to the couple shared that Mo and Taia are in a "bubble of bliss" following their daughter's birth several weeks ago, though they are keeping the baby's name and gender private for close friends and family.
