Channel 4 has confirmed that David Morrissey, star of the recently concluded thriller Tip Toe, has already secured his next major role. The 61-year-old actor, best known for his work on The Walking Dead, will lead the cast of The Siege, a six-part action drama based on the book by Ben Macintyre. The series recounts the true story of the 1980 Iranian Embassy siege in London, where six armed Arab Iranian separatists took 26 hostages during a tense six-day standoff.
A Stellar Cast Joins Morrissey
Morrissey will portray Scotland Yard's deputy assistant commissioner John Dellow, who oversaw the initial response and negotiations. Joining him is Danny Dyer, known for Rivals and EastEnders, as PC Trevor Lock, the sole armed officer on duty who managed to hide his revolver and played a key role in the SAS rescue. Other cast members include Line of Duty's Mark Bonnar, The Crown's Alex Jennings, Omid Djalili from Betrayal, and Gotham's Sean Pertwee.
Behind the Scenes
The series is adapted by Emmy and WGA award-winning writer Will Smith, known for Slow Horses and Veep. Filming has already commenced, with a release expected later this year or early 2027. Channel 4's chief content officer Ian Katz described the show as a "heartstopping, emotional thriller" that reveals the human reality behind the siege and the near-disastrous SAS operation.
Tip Toe is available to watch on Channel 4.
