From Bond Girl to Lovely Rita: Barbara Bach's Timeless Style
Barbara Bach, the actress who captivated a generation as the doe-eyed Bond girl in The Spy Who Loved Me, recently offered a charming nod to her husband's legendary past. Now 79, the former model was photographed in Beverly Hills, where a simple act of feeding a parking meter amusingly brought to mind The Beatles' classic song, 'Lovely Rita'.
A Blast from the Beatles Past
The connection was immediate for any music fan. The Beatles' track, written by Paul McCartney, was inspired by a 'meter-maid' who gave him a parking ticket outside Abbey Road studios. Determined not to suffer the same fate, Barbara was seen ensuring she paid enough to avoid any fines. This moment came nearly 50 years after she stole hearts as KGB agent Anya Amasova, also known as Agent Triple X, opposite Roger Moore in the 1977 James Bond film.
A Lasting Love and Shared Recovery
Barbara Bach's life took a pivotal turn in 1980 on the set of the movie Caveman, where she met Beatles drummer Ringo Starr. Sparks flew instantly, and the couple married just a year later in 1981. Their 44-year marriage has weathered significant storms, including a near-fatal car crash and battles with addiction. They famously checked into rehab together in 1988, emerging sober and turning their lives toward philanthropy and vegetarianism.
Together, they founded the Lotus Foundation in the 1990s, a charity focused on supporting vulnerable animals and advancing social welfare, from substance abuse recovery to terminal illness care. While Ringo was not with her during this outing, he is preparing for a new art exhibition in Las Vegas, with all proceeds benefiting their foundation.
Barbara, who has largely stepped back from the public eye, looked effortlessly chic for her morning meeting. She wore sleek black slacks, a graphic T-shirt under a sharp blue blazer, and pink-and-black sneakers, accessorised with a black designer bag and gold jewellery. She shares two children, Francesca, 47, and Gianni, 44, from her previous marriage to Augusto Gregorini, while she and Ringo have no children together but have remained a steadfast couple for over four decades.
