WWE Biopic 'Fighting With My Family' to Stage Musical

The 2019 film Fighting With My Family, directed by Stephen Merchant and chronicling the true story of WWE superstar Paige, is set to be transformed into a major new stage musical. The production will trace Paige's journey from her upbringing in a British wrestling family in Norwich to her meteoric rise in America's WWE, delving into the personal struggles she faced along the way.

A Natural Fit for the Stage

Merchant, who both wrote and directed the original film, has revealed that he always envisioned the story as a musical. He drew parallels between the choreography of wrestling matches and dance numbers, suggesting the narrative lends itself seamlessly to the theatrical format. The soundtrack for this coming-of-age musical will be composed by the acclaimed songwriter Miranda Cooper, whose extensive portfolio includes hits for numerous pop artists.

Enthusiasm from The Rock

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, who appeared in the film, has also expressed his excitement about the adaptation. He noted that the story's emotional depth and the vibrant world of professional wrestling make it exceptionally well-suited for the stage. The musical promises to capture the same heart and humour that made the film a success, while offering audiences a fresh, live experience.
