Beloved sitcom Scrubs has finally made an epic return after 16 years, with two episodes premiering today (February 25) on ABC and streaming Thursday on Hulu. The medical comedy-drama, created by Bill Lawrence, originally aired from October 2001 to March 2010, following the lives of employees at the fictional Sacred Heart Hospital.
The original trio—Zach Braff (50), Donald Faison (51), and Sarah Chalke (49)—reprise their roles as doctors John 'J.D.' Dorian, Christopher Turk, and Elliot Reid. In the reboot, 'J.D. and Turk scrub together for the first time in a long time,' according to the synopsis. 'Medicine has changed, interns have changed, but their bromance has stood the test of time.'
Since the show ended, Zach Braff has moved into a successful directing career, helming films such as Garden State, Wish I Was Here, and Going in Style. He also directed an episode of Ted Lasso, earning Emmy and Directors Guild of America nominations. Braff recently directed episodes of Shrinking and appeared in Bad Monkey. His 2023 film A Good Person starred his then-girlfriend Florence Pugh, with whom he faced controversy over their 21-year age gap.
While some cast members look remarkably similar, others have undergone significant transformations. The cast's varied fates include a tragic death, a controversial romance, and a $1 million court battle. The revival promises to bring back both familiar and new characters, navigating the waters of Sacred Heart with laughter and heart.
