Rylan Clark has hinted that he would not be opposed to leaving his successful television career for an entirely different path. The revelation emerged during a light-hearted exchange with his BBC Radio 2 colleague Sally Boazman, known as Sally Traffic, while discussing life in the spotlight.
Eurovision Chat Sparks Reflection
During a conversation about this year's Eurovision Song Contest on his BBC Radio 2 programme Rylan On Saturday, Sally suggested that the celebrities she works with, including Rylan, had 'nothing to moan about'. This remark prompted the Dating Naked UK star to consider his 'very blessed' circumstances. He acknowledged that the glitz and glamour of fame 'ain't everything', confessing there are moments when he 'wouldn't mind just sitting in a tracksuit' and running a 'little' business.
Fame Ain't Everything
Sally said: 'Well, you know, you guys. I work with all you very famous guys and, you know, you've really got nothing to moan about.' Rylan replied: 'Oh, do you know what? Fame ain't everything. Let me tell you that. I'm very blessed. I'm very highly favoured. Blessings to you all. But sometimes, I wouldn't mind just sitting in a tracksuit, having a little gardening business or something. Do you know what I mean?'
He joked: 'Like, have a little pick of a weed. Not that weed! You know, weed(s) I should say, plural. There's the headline for tomorrow's Sunday papers.' Sally remarked it made him 'sound quite interesting'.
Robot Lawnmowers Take Over
Rylan went on: 'But now, I got me robot lawnmowers. So actually, I can't even do that... took that away from me now.' Sticking with the gardening theme, Sally stated she had never known him be 'so excited' about an appliance before, prompting him to reply: 'Yeah, I love them; Alan Tech-marsh and Charlie Strimmer,' christening them with nicknames inspired by renowned gardeners Alan Titchmarsh and Charlie Dimmock. Sally pointed out that Rylan had two mowers working 'simultaneously'. Rylan confirmed: 'They do. They have a mowing old time. They do.'
This Morning Returns
The revelation follows Rylan discussing his enduring relationship with ITV's This Morning. After his breakout moment on The X Factor, he joined the programme in 2013 and has made numerous appearances since. During the Easter period, Rylan returned once more, presenting alongside Emma Willis. When asked about his next appearance, Rylan explained: 'I mean I'm back, I sort of go on whenever I can to be honest. I was in the Maldives in January and then I come back and did one day, because I could only do a day that week. Then [I did] three days over Easter. I did This Morning for so long and I loved it, like every single day, and then I sort of left for a while and now it's nice to just pop back in.' He continued: '[I] do like one day here, two days there, maybe even a week if I've got the time.'
Bin Drama with Mum Linda
Elsewhere, Rylan recently urged his mum, Linda, to 'leave them', as they discussed an issue with his wheelie bins. The popular presenter aired his views on the situation on a separate episode of his Radio 2 show. He asked: 'What was the update on the bins?' She replied: 'The must come late.' Rylan responded: 'Mum did you bring my bins in?!....Mum, we need to have this chat. This is really important.' Linda tried to reply, but Rylan jumped in again: 'No, no, no let me finish. No, I don't care! Let me finish. Right. You came round my house at nine o'clock this morning and went, "They've not took your bins yet". Sometimes they run late. What did I say to you? Leave them Mum. I said "Mum, leave them, they'll be here". So you're telling me you've pulled my bins in when I've gone.' Linda then revealed that Rylan's bins had in fact been emptied. He responded: 'Oh fine! I thought you'd pulled them in!... I thought you said they'd still not been.'
