Rob Rinder's appearance as a guest host on Good Morning Britain on Friday has sparked a mixed reaction among viewers, with some calling for him to be made a permanent presenter while others criticised his style as 'too showbiz'.
The 47-year-old barrister, best known for his daytime courtroom series Judge Rinder, regularly covers for the main hosts on Fridays. However, his latest stint alongside Charlotte Hawkins prompted a debate on social media.
One fan wrote on X: 'Petition to keep Rob Rinder as the main anchor during the week. Big brain, asks the right questions. @ITV open your cheque book #gmb.' Another added: 'It’s rob. No screeching talking over. Didn’t even turn channel.'
But not everyone was impressed. A viewer commented: 'Rob Rinder is so cringe. So showbiz. So rehearsed. So fake.' Another agreed: 'I've thought this as well. I enjoyed his show #JudgeRinder but he’s not an anchor for morning tv, it doesn’t work. #GMB.'
During the programme, Rinder and Hawkins covered VJ Day celebrations and King Charles's speech. A light-hearted moment occurred when showbiz reporter Richard Arnold joined them, and the two reminisced about their appearances on Strictly Come Dancing, with Rinder joking about a 'campest fight' with Arnold.
