Rivals Season 2 First Look Unveils Star-Studded Cast

Disney has sent shockwaves of excitement through the fanbase of its hit drama Rivals, releasing a stunning first look at the highly anticipated second season. The series, based on the late Dame Jilly Cooper's bestselling novel, is confirmed for a raunchy return in 2026, with filming currently underway across the UK.

A Glamorous Cast Returns with Powerful New Additions

The fresh batch of images confirms the return of the show's principal ensemble, promising "even more wit, desire, and jaw-dropping twists." Viewers will be thrilled to see David Tennant back as the formidable media mogul Lord Tony Baddingham, captured striding from a helicopter in signature dark shades. Aidan Turner reprises his role as the enigmatic Declan O'Hara, while Nafessa Williams returns as the authoritative Cameron Cook.

Alex Hassell's Rupert Campbell-Black is also back, pictured in a curiously awkward moment lurking in a storage cupboard. Bella Maclean, portraying Taggie O'Hara, features alongside him in the newly released preview shots.

The ensemble grows significantly with a host of acclaimed new actors. Hayley Atwell and Rupert Everett join as special guest stars, playing Helen Gordon and her husband Malise, respectively. They are part of a major influx of talent including Maxim Ays, Holly Cattle, Oliver Dench, Amanda Lawrence, Bobby Lockwood, Eliot Salt, and Jonny Weldon.

Production in Full Swing Across British Landscapes

The production is deeply embedded in quintessential British locations, faithfully recreating the glamorous, high-stakes world of 1980s television. Key filming sites include the Beaufort Polo Club in Berkeley, where Danny Dyer (Freddie Jones) was spotted filming, and the historic Berkeley Castle in Gloucestershire.

The picturesque town of Corsham in Wiltshire has also been transformed, with its high street dressed to period perfection for scenes featuring David Tennant and Claire Rushbrook (Lady Monica Baddingham). Bristol has served as another backdrop, with The Cosy Club and Harbour Hotel on Corn Street used for filming sequences involving Emily Atack's character, Sarah Stratton.

A Legacy Honoured and a Season of High Stakes

The new season arrives following the passing of the series' beloved creator, Dame Jilly Cooper, in October 2025 at the age of 88. Cast members, including Gary Lamont and Lisa McGrillis, have paid moving tributes to the iconic author, whose Rutshire Chronicles inspired the show.

Picking up from the dramatic cliffhanger of season one, the plot promises intensified power struggles. Lord Baddingham is back and seeking vengeance, determined to protect his Corinium empire at any cost. Disney teases that careers, marriages, and reputations will hang in the balance as personal and professional lives fatally collide.

Described as a "thrilling ride through a landscape of breath-taking beauty, fierce competition, and life-changing decisions," Rivals season two is set to premiere exclusively on Hulu and Disney Plus in 2026.
