Netflix has quietly edited a scene in the latest episode of Stranger Things after fans spotted a glaring anachronism. In season five's seventh episode, 'The Bridge', character Holly Wheeler, played by Nell Fisher, was seen wearing a shirt bearing the logo of sportswear brand Under Armour, which was founded in 1996 – a decade after the show's 1980s setting.
Eagle-eyed viewers quickly took to social media to point out the mistake, questioning how such an oversight could occur given the show's reported $500 million budget. One fan wrote: 'How did they not notice this?' Another compared it to the infamous Game of Thrones Starbucks cup gaffe, saying: 'Close enough, welcome back GoT season eight.'
Netflix has since removed the logo, leaving the sleeve plain black. The error was described as a 'blink and you'll miss it moment', but fans were baffled that it was missed during production. The scene shows Holly escaping from Vecna's memories, where she was strapped to a 'Pain Tree'.
Stranger Things season five is nearing its conclusion, with the final episode set to air on New Year's Eve in the US and New Year's Day in the UK on Netflix. The penultimate episode revealed the Upside Down to be a wormhole, and the gang plans to destroy it to stop Vecna for good.
