Monty Don Offers Sneak Peek into New Gardeners' World Series

BBC Gardeners' World star Monty Don has delighted fans by sharing exclusive behind-the-scenes glimpses from the filming of the show's new series, set to premiere this week. After a traditional three-month winter hiatus, Monty returns to television screens alongside co-host Adam Frost, offering practical gardening tips and showcasing transformative garden projects.

Filming Updates and Spring Preparations

In a recent appearance on BBC Morning Live via video call with hosts Helen Skelton and Gethin Jones, Monty confirmed that filming for the new series is well underway. He explained, "We started filming last week and have already been filming for about half an hour this morning. The new series is very much under way." Standing in his own garden, Longmeadow in Herefordshire, Monty highlighted the brisk pace of production, noting that episodes are lined up to air weekly from March through October.

Teasing the content, Monty shared details from the first episode, which features favorable weather conditions. "I cleared the grass borders and planted raspberries," he said, emphasizing the onset of spring with daffodils beginning to bloom. He added, "There are lots of jobs to do in the garden. We've sown seeds and cleared the grass borders, which is a big job."

Co-Host Adam Frost's New Garden Venture

Monty also revealed that viewers will follow Adam Frost as he transforms a new garden throughout the year. Describing Adam as "one of our leading designers, as well as a great television presenter," Monty expressed excitement about the collaborative efforts to get back to hands-on gardening. "Generally, just getting back to grips with a garden, getting our hands dirty, getting stuck in," he remarked, underscoring the show's practical focus.

Canine Companion Ned Makes an Appearance

Adding a personal touch, Monty's dog Ned will feature prominently in the series. Monty explained, "He's very happy to pose in front of the camera. He has filmed from day one since he was a puppy and is always with me. He loves it, loves the crew, and sees everyone—it's all part of his day job." This charming element is expected to resonate with longtime fans of the show.

The new series of Gardeners' World premieres this Friday, March 13, at 8pm on BBC One and iPlayer. Meanwhile, BBC Morning Live continues to air weekdays at 9:30am, providing additional insights into the gardening world.
