Updated Death Certificate for Celeste Rivas Changes Pregnancy Status to Unknown
Celeste Rivas Death Certificate Updated: Pregnancy Status Unknown

An updated death certificate for Celeste Rivas has indicated that it is unknown whether she was pregnant when she died, following singer D4vd's sensational arrest in the months-long investigation. D4vd, whose real name is David Anthony Burke, 21, was arrested on murder charges earlier this month in connection with Rivas' death.

The fourteen-year-old was found a day after her 15th birthday, dismembered in a Tesla belonging to D4vd last September, according to the Los Angeles coroner. Her death certificate at the time listed her as 'not pregnant,' but an updated document obtained by TMZ on Thursday revealed that the section has been modified to read that it was 'unknown' whether she was pregnant when she died.

The certificate has also been updated to read that her cause and manner of death were from 'multiple penetrating injuries,' and was ruled a homicide. Rivas' injury date, hour, place and location are still listed as 'unknown.' The updated death certificate also now lists the injuries she sustained were from 'objects.' The original certificate from September had left that section blank.

Rivas' autopsy report, previously obtained by the Daily Mail, revealed that she sustained knife wounds to her liver and her chest. She was found months after she was reported missing in an abandoned vehicle. By the time investigators found her remains, her head was partially skeletonized and missing an eye, the autopsy report read.

Benzodiazepines and Methamphetamine, more commonly known as 'benzos' and 'meth' were found in her liver. Benzodiazepines are depressants that slow down brain activity, while Methamphetamine is a stimulant and floods the brain with dopamine, often causing feelings of euphoria. Even though it may seem like the drugs cancel one another out, taking them together can be dangerous and lead to an overdose.

The autopsy report also stated that an investigator found her dismembered arms and legs in a trash bag under her body in the trunk of the car. Law enforcement discovered Rivas' remains in a cadaver bag 'covered with insects and a strong odor of decay,' court documents said. The coroner determined that Rivas had been deceased in the vehicle for 'an extended period of time before being found.'

The horrific way her body was recovered led to D4vd receiving an additional charge of unlawfully mutilating a body. The singer also faces a charge of continuous sexual abuse. The Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office said investigators believe D4vd began sexually abusing Rivas while she was under the age of 14.

District Attorney Nathan Hochman said at a news conference that D4vd allegedly killed Rivas 'to maintain his very lucrative musical career that Celeste was threatening' after he allegedly committed 'lewd and lascivious sexual acts' with her. Prosecutors allege that D4vd met Rivas in January 2022 when she was just 11-years-old.

Friends of D4vd previously told TMZ that the two were frequently seen together and that they believed the pair were romantically involved. Rivas' family reported her missing three different times after she met D4vd. The first time, in February 2024, the Riverside County Sheriff's Department contacted D4vd after finding his number in her phone records. She returned home two days later.

In April, prosecutors found a text message where she allegedly threatened to expose damaging information about the singer. Authorities have alleged that D4vd killed Rivas to protect his career after she threatened to report their illegal sexual relationship. Rivas' mother previously said that her daughter was dating a guy named David, whom she had never met.

The pair were rumored to have shared matching 'Sshhh' tattoos on their right index fingers. The autopsy report confirmed that Rivas did have the tattoo. Photographs of D4vd also show the same markings on his finger. The teenager was described multiple times as a 'runway,' and prosecutors believe D4vd had 'recurring access' to her from November 2023 until she was last seen on April 23, 2025, which is also the day her cell phone activity stopped.

Prosecutors believe she likely died on that day. That same week, D4vd released tickets for his world tour and his debut album, Withered. Law enforcement found purchases for two chainsaws from Amazon on May 1, 2025. Prosecutors said the singer allegedly took 'horrifying measures to destroy and discard' her body.

Three grand juries have looked at the case since Rivas was found. D4vd was subsequently arrested on suspicion of murder charges earlier this month before the now-official charges were filed. D4vd has pleaded not guilty to the charges against him. His attorneys maintain his innocence, and his family has said they are fully standing by him.
