Marshals Season 2: Release Window, Episode Count Revealed

The Yellowstone universe continues to expand as the hit prequel series Marshals officially enters production on its second season. Fans are eagerly awaiting the return of Luke Grimes as Kayce Dutton, alongside the rest of the cast. The first season premiered in March 2026 and quickly became CBS's biggest new scripted series, averaging over 20 million viewers per episode. It concluded in May after 13 episodes, leaving several cliffhangers unresolved.

What Happened in Season 1?

Season one ended with Kayce's son Tate (Brecken Merrill) on a fishing trip with rival rancher Tom Weaver (Chris Mulkey), raising questions about his safety. Meanwhile, Cal (Logan Marshall-Green) and Belle (Arielle Kebbel) face an ambush, and Cruz (Ash Santos) may have left Montana for good. These storylines are set to continue in the new season.

Production Update

CBS confirmed on June 8, 2026, that production has officially begun on season two. The network's Instagram account shared behind-the-scenes photos of cast members Grimes, Santos, and Tatanka Means. The caption read: "Marshals is back to work on Season 2— production has officially begun on all-new episodes." The first episode of the new season is titled All Hat No Cattle.
