Kit Harington has described kissing Sophie Turner in their new horror film 'The Dreadful' as 'weird' after they spent nearly a decade playing siblings Jon Snow and Sansa Stark on HBO's 'Game of Thrones'. In an interview with E! News, Harington admitted he 'felt very odd' about the romantic scenes, joking that he had to stand on an apple box because Turner is 'about a foot taller' than him.
Turner had previously called the kissing scenes 'vile' during an appearance on 'Late Night With Seth Meyers' in August. She revealed that she sent the script to Harington, who responded by saying the project would be 'really fucking weird' due to their on-screen history. Turner admitted she initially didn't understand his concern until she read the script and realised it involved multiple kissing and sex scenes.
Despite the awkwardness, Harington said their friendship 'completely ignited again' on set. 'It felt like being with family. It really did,' he added. The actors reunited to film 'The Dreadful' last autumn, marking their first collaboration since 'Game of Thrones' ended in 2019.
Set in the 15th century, 'The Dreadful' follows Anne (Turner) and her mother-in-law Morwen, who live on the outskirts of society. When a man (Harington) from their past returns, he triggers a chain of events that upends Anne's life. The film, written and directed by Natasha Kermani, also stars Marcia Gay Harden, Laurence O'Fuarain and Jonathan Howard.
