Jonathan Bailey's Private Partner as Wicked Role Returns
Jonathan Bailey's Partner & Wicked Return Revealed

Bridgerton actor Jonathan Bailey has made a triumphant return to the big screen, reprising his role in the highly anticipated film Wicked: For Good. The second part of the cinematic adaptation of the beloved musical hit cinemas this month, continuing the story of Elphaba and Glinda's unlikely friendship in the time before The Wizard of Oz.

Jonathan Bailey's Private Personal Life

While his professional life is in the spotlight, Jonathan Bailey has consistently chosen to keep his personal life away from public scrutiny. The actor, who was recently crowned the sexiest man alive of 2025 by People magazine, confirmed back in 2023 that he was in a relationship.

In an interview with The Standard, Bailey stated he was with a "lovely man", but clarified that his relationship status was "not secret but private". He is not married. Prior to this, he was reportedly linked to actor James Ellis, though this was never officially confirmed.

Rumours of a romance with his Jurassic World Rebirth co-star Scarlett Johansson were firmly dismissed after the pair confirmed their bond was purely platonic, despite being seen kissing on red carpets.

Bailey's Role in Wicked and Musical Theatre Pedigree

In the Wicked films, Jonathan Bailey plays Fiyero, a Winkie Prince. His character arc begins as the love interest for Glinda, played by Ariana Grande, before developing a romantic connection with Cynthia Erivo's Elphaba.

Fiyero's story takes a dramatic turn when he becomes the Scarecrow after a spell cast by Elphaba to protect him goes awry. He ultimately helps Elphaba fake her death, and the two escape Oz together.

The casting has been met with overwhelming praise from fans. One Reddit user exclaimed: "So princely! Gorgeous! Masterful! Regal! Intense!" Another commented on his singing prowess, writing: "I might not survive As Long As You’re Mine in Part 2."

A Proven Stage Performer

Bailey's compelling performance is backed by substantial musical theatre credentials. His stage career began at the age of seven with the Royal Shakespeare Company's production of A Christmas Carol, where he played both Tiny Tim and young Scrooge.

He later solidified his reputation in major West End productions, including American Psycho The Musical and the Olivier Award-winning revival of Company.

Wicked: For Good is now showing in cinemas nationwide.
