A woman was removed from a Delta Air Lines flight and arrested after allegedly refusing to end a phone call as the plane prepared for departure. Shannon Marie Harris, 46, was asked by crew members to end her call on Monday, but she refused, according to an arrest report obtained by WSB-TV.
The incident occurred on a flight from Miami to Atlanta. Harris reportedly became belligerent, prompting the pilot to return the plane to the gate. When asked to leave, she refused, leading the crew to instruct all passengers to exit the aircraft. Harris attempted to leave with other passengers but was arrested and charged with misdemeanor trespassing.
A video shared with Fox 5 Atlanta shows other passengers urging Harris to comply, with one man saying, 'There's over 100 plus people [on the plane], they're catching flights, they're going to see their families, to see their kids.' Passengers began chanting 'get off the plane!' and one questioned why they had to follow rules but Harris did not.
The flight departed an hour late. A Delta spokesperson said the company has 'zero tolerance for disruptive behavior.' The FAA requires phones to be in airplane mode during flights and warns that failing to follow crew instructions can result in civil penalties of up to $13,910.
