Actress Jo Joyner has described her role in the Channel 5 drama series Little Disasters as a blessing, offering fans a glimpse behind the scenes of the gripping six-part show. The former EastEnders star shared a series of photographs on social media, capturing moments from filming in Malta, Budapest, and Richmond.
Plot Overview and Cast
Little Disasters follows four close friends whose decade-long bond is tested after a single incident. When one of them, Jess (played by Diane Kruger), brings her baby daughter to hospital with an unexplained head injury, her friend and A&E doctor Liz (Joyner) is forced to alert social services. This triggers a cascade of revelations about motherhood, hidden truths, and guilt.
The cast also includes Shelley Conn (Bridgerton) and Patrick Baladi (The Office). The series has kept viewers on edge as the central question lingers: what really happened to the baby? The finale, airing this week, promises to expose secrets that could shatter the group.
Behind-the-Scenes Insights
Joyner posted images from the set, including shots with prosthetic pregnancy bumps for flashback scenes and a pink wig worn by co-star Emily Taaffe. Other photos show the cast relaxing between takes, sharing meals and playing games. She captioned the post: "What I did last summer...! After three months in Malta, I had two weeks at home before heading off to Budapest to film the first half of #littledisasters an adaptation of the gripping novel by @svaughanauthor."
She added: "Filming in 38 degrees in the bustling city surrounded by a wealth of talent. Sitting next to a beautiful and talented Chanel model every morning in makeup, whilst having broken veins and dark circles painted on me, did nothing for my ego. But getting to play the down-to-earth, capable and witty Liz more than made up for it."
Joyner's Experience
Joyner expressed gratitude for the experience, writing: "Blessed to have spent the hours off set having great meals, hikes and conversation, and not to forget, crosswords- with the best of cast mates, glad and grateful for the visits from friends and family." She also noted that the cast tried on the pink wig and that choosing baby bumps was harder than expected.
Little Disasters is currently available to stream on Channel 5.
