ITV's Farming For Love: New Dating Show Helps UK Farmers Find Romance
ITV's Farming For Love: New Dating Show for Farmers

ITV has officially commissioned a brand new dating series specifically designed to help unlucky-in-love British farmers find romance, while simultaneously offering viewers an authentic glimpse into contemporary farm life. The programme, titled Farming For Love, is directly inspired by the internationally successful format Farmer Wants a Wife.

A Global Format Comes Home

The original Farmer Wants a Wife franchise began in 2001 and has since become a worldwide phenomenon, airing in over 34 different territories including the United States and Australia. Its remarkable track record includes facilitating more than 250 marriages and the birth of over 600 babies. A UK version previously aired in 2009, hosted by Louise Redknapp, and now ITV is reviving the concept with a fresh, modern take for British audiences.

Heart, Humour and Authenticity on the Farm

The new series promises to be full of "heart, humour and authenticity", according to its producers. It will follow single farmers as they search not just for a romantic partner, but for someone genuinely willing to embrace the unique challenges and rewards of rural agricultural life. The show's format involves the participating farmers selecting potential partners from a pool of applicants.

These chosen candidates will then be invited to move onto the farm, where they will experience the realities of British farming first-hand. As they live and work together, tending to livestock and crops, the series will document whether genuine romantic connections can blossom amidst the daily routines of farm work.

The Tough Final Choice

Each farmer's journey will culminate in a difficult decision, as they must choose which candidate they believe could be their perfect long-term partner, both in love and in sharing the farming lifestyle. This adds a layer of serious commitment to the typical dating show narrative.

Production Team Enthusiastic

Nicola Lloyd, creative director at the production company Naked TV, expressed her excitement about the project. "Farming has never been more popular but finding love while running a farm remains a real challenge," she stated. "Farming for Love has all the heart, humour and authenticity that make a great dating show, and I’m thrilled we will be helping people find love this time on British farms."

Katie Rawcliffe, ITV's director of entertainment, reality and daytime TV, echoed this sentiment, describing Farming For Love as "a love story with farming at the heart of it". She added that the show is "funny, feel good and heartwarming", positioning it as a standout addition to ITV's entertainment lineup.

Timely Revival

The announcement comes as the original Farmer Wants a Wife format celebrates its 25th anniversary this year, demonstrating the enduring appeal of its core concept. Farming For Love is now set to air on ITV, bringing a unique blend of romance and rural reality to UK television screens.
