ITV has officially confirmed that the revived game show You Bet! will not be returning for another series, leaving its co-host Holly Willoughby without any television presenting roles. The decision marks a significant shift for the once-ubiquitous presenter, who has seen several of her major projects end in recent years.
End of an Era for You Bet!
The entertainment programme You Bet! originally aired in the 1990s with Matthew Kelly as host before being revived in 2024 with Holly Willoughby and Stephen Mulhern as co-presenters. The show featured a mix of celebrity contestants and elaborate stunts, initially broadcasting from a studio before transitioning to a touring format across the country.
An ITV spokesperson stated to The Sun: "You Bet! returned to ITV in 2024 with a peak overnight audience of 4.4 million viewers. Both You Bet! and You Bet! On Tour are available to watch on ITVX. There are currently no plans for a new series of You Bet! On Tour."
Holly Willoughby's Television Decline
This cancellation leaves Holly Willoughby, aged 45, without any active hosting commitments on television. The presenter was previously a near-daily fixture on ITV through her long-running roles on This Morning and Dancing on Ice, but she stepped down from This Morning last year while Dancing on Ice was also discontinued.
Another programme fronted by Willoughby, Celebrity Bear Hunt, was axed after just one series. The Netflix production, which she co-hosted with survival expert Bear Grylls, involved celebrities being placed in the Central American jungle to test their survival abilities. Grylls later explained that while the show was enjoyable to make, it was extremely costly, and a change in Netflix leadership contributed to its cancellation.
Willoughby also presented Freeze The Fear with Wim Hof, a programme produced by her husband Dan Baldwin's company Hungry Bear. The show featured celebrities like Tamzin Outhwaite and Dianne Buswell undertaking sub-zero challenges but was cancelled after a single series in 2024.
Life Beyond Television
Despite her reduced television presence, Holly Willoughby maintains business interests outside of broadcasting. She operates a lifestyle brand called Wylde Moon, which sells products such as candles, diffusers, and perfume, drawing comparisons to Meghan Markle's ventures.
Her husband Dan Baldwin continues to be successful in television production through Hungry Bear, the company behind hit shows including Michael McIntyre's The Wheel, Gladiators, and Michael McIntyre's Big Show.
The cumulative effect of these cancellations and departures means that one of Britain's most recognisable television personalities currently has no scheduled hosting duties, signalling a potential career transition or pause in her broadcasting work.
