The Last of Us season 2 is set to premiere on Sunday, April 13, 2025, on HBO in the United States, and on April 14 on Sky and streaming platform NOW in the UK. The season will consist of seven episodes, drawing material from the video game The Last of Us Part II. This is two episodes fewer than the first season, which had nine episodes.
Pedro Pascal returns as Joel Miller, and Bella Ramsey reprises their role as Ellie. Gabriel Luna also returns as Tommy, Joel's brother. New cast members include Catherine O'Hara as therapist Gail, Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, Young Mazino as Jesse, and Isabela Merced as Dina. Additional casting includes Danny Ramirez as Manny, Ariela Barer as Mel, Tati Gabrielle as Nora, Spencer Lord as Owen, Jeffrey Wright as Isaac Dixon, and Joe Pantoliano as Eugene.
The story is set five years after the events of season one, with Joel and Ellie facing a changed relationship and a more dangerous world, still without a cure for the Cordyceps infection. Showrunners Neil Druckmann and Craig Mazin have hinted at a potential four-season storyline, and HBO has already renewed the series for a third season ahead of the second season's debut.
