An EastEnders legend is preparing to trade the cobbles of Albert Square for the sparkle of the ballroom. Nicholas Bailey, famed for playing Dr Anthony Trueman, has been confirmed for the star-studded Strictly Come Dancing 2025 Christmas Special.
From Walford to the Waltz
The 54-year-old actor expressed his delight at the new challenge, stating he is "really excited to be doing this". He added that his wife and daughters are even more thrilled. Bailey aims to make his family, the residents of Albert Square, and his professional dance partner proud.
He will be hitting the dancefloor with professional dancer Luba Mushtuk. This festive edition will feature six celebrity and pro couples competing for the title of Strictly Christmas Champion.
A Storied Career On and Off the Square
Nicholas Bailey first appeared on EastEnders 25 years ago, becoming a fixture until 2004. After years of occasional guest spots, he made a dramatic return to the BBC One soap earlier this year.
His acting career spans over three decades, with credits including popular series like Death in Paradise, Casualty, and Coronation Street. On stage, he has an impressive theatrical background with roles in West End productions such as Dreamgirls and Agatha Christie's The Mousetrap.
A Festive Finale for Beloved Hosts
The Christmas special will mark a significant moment for the show's presenting team. Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman will be overseeing the festivities for the final time as hosts.
They will be joined by the familiar judging panel of Shirley Ballas, Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, and Anton Du Beke. The special is set to air on BBC One and BBC iPlayer during the Christmas period.
Bailey's announcement follows recent confirmations that Scarlett Moffatt, Melanie Blatt, and Jodie Ounsley will also be taking part in the festive lineup, promising a truly spectacular show.
