Death In Paradise will not air this evening due to Comic Relief, with the series finale postponed to next Friday. The show's regular Friday slot is pre-empted by the charity telethon, meaning the eighth episode will now air on 29th March.
The delay comes amid dramatic developments for Commissioner Selwyn Patterson, played by Don Warrington. In last week's episode, he was forced to step down from his role after a younger replacement arrived from the central team in Jamaica, leaving fans devastated.
A synopsis for the upcoming episode reveals that DI Mervin Wilson, played by Don Gilet, becomes the prime suspect in a murder investigation when a body is found in his shack. The victim was a volunteer at a local turtle conservation charity, and the team is baffled by the locked-room mystery.
Meanwhile, Selwyn delivers personal news to Mervin that could upend everything, sparking speculation about a double exit. Mervin had previously planned to return home after solving his mother's murder, raising questions about his future on the island.
Instead of Death In Paradise, viewers can enjoy a special crossover sketch featuring Beyond Paradise and Not Going Out for Comic Relief. Kris Marshall, who plays Detective Humphrey Goodman, described the sketch as a 'hilarious mistaken identities and sliding-doors pastiche' that combines two beloved BBC shows for a good cause.
