Alicia Silverstone's Clueless Sequel Series Dropped by Peacock
Clueless Sequel Series Dropped by Peacock

The proposed Clueless sequel series is no longer moving forward at streaming service Peacock.

Project Scrapped at Peacock

The show, which would have seen Alicia Silverstone reprise her role as Cher Horowitz, has been in development since last year. However, according to Variety, CBS Studios and Paramount remain keen on the project and may seek an alternative home on another platform or streaming service.

Silverstone's Comments

Silverstone said last August, months after the project was first announced, that it was still in the “baby stages.” In an interview with Today, she stated: “I’m really excited about it. I think we’re going to try really hard. The goal is to make it honor what everyone loves about Clueless and Cher.”

The original 1995 film, directed by Amy Heckerling, became a cultural touchstone and launched Silverstone's career. The sequel series aimed to continue the story of Cher Horowitz in modern times. While Peacock has passed on the project, industry insiders suggest that interest from other networks and streaming services remains high.

More details are expected as the producers continue discussions with potential distributors.
