Carrie Bickmore Endures Hilarious Roasting on New TV Show
Carrie Bickmore found herself both embarrassed and highly entertained during an appearance on Mick Molloy's uproarious new television program, Glenn & Mick's Celebrity Intervention, which aired on Monday. The Project star was subjected to a series of good-natured but pointed jokes from her celebrity friends, including Kate Langbroek, who humorously targeted Carrie's charitable initiative, Beanies 4 Brain Cancer.
Charity Jokes and Sweatshop Gags
Langbroek quipped, 'To be fair, you haven't beaten brain cancer,' following a discussion about Carrie not securing the Australian of the Year award. Molloy then escalated the teasing by jesting that the beanies from Carrie's charity are manufactured in a sweatshop. He remarked, '(You've sold) 700,000 beanies, and the people who want to thank you the most are the kids who made those beanies in Bangladesh.' To amplify the joke, a fabricated image of a sweatshop was displayed on screen, with Molloy adding, 'We were going to get them to send a message but they don't get a lunch break.'
Awkward Nude Encounter Revealed
In another segment of the episode, Carrie confronted her teenage son, Oliver Lange, aged 18, about an accidental nude incident that occurred when he was just 11 years old. Bickmore recounted the story, saying, 'I was nine months pregnant, about to give birth, and I said goodbye to my darling son as he walked out the front door to walk to school. Then I got naked, because that's what you do when you're heavily pregnant and it's summer. I was going to go have a shower and then I saw through the little shutters in the bedroom that Ollie was walking back up the driveway towards the front door, so I opened the front door fully naked and I said, "What did you forget?" But it wasn't Ollie! It was his best friend.'
She added, 'He didn't tell his parents for a while, who are my close friends, and then I had to tell them, and yeah, we don't make eye contact now.' Comedian Mick Molloy described the episode to news.com.au, noting, 'She cops a real grilling,' highlighting the intensity of the roasting.
Additional Teasing from Friends and Co-stars
The show featured further humorous digs, including Carrie's mother presenting photos of her messy childhood room, described as 'a real pig.' Her former Project co-star, Peter Helliar, demanded an explanation for finding her bra in his car. Meanwhile, Tommy Little, her co-host on the Carrie & Tommy Hit Network radio show, delivered sharp jokes about her tanning obsession, labeling her as 'the brown one from The Project.'
Despite the lighthearted mockery, Carrie's Beanies 4 Brain Cancer has achieved significant success, raising an impressive $27 million for brain cancer research since its inception in 2017. The episode showcased a blend of comedy and personal anecdotes, leaving viewers amused by the star's good-humored response to the roasting.
