Global New Year 2026 Livestream: Fireworks from Sydney to London Amid Cancellations
New Year 2026: Global fireworks livestream as events cancelled

As the world prepares to welcome 2026, a spectacular global livestream is offering a front-row seat to the dazzling fireworks displays lighting up skylines from Sydney to London. This digital celebration comes as several major in-person events have been cancelled due to safety concerns, prompting revellers to seek alternative ways to ring in the new year.

Global Festivities and Notable Cancellations

The planetary party began in the earliest time zones, with Kiribati and New Zealand among the first nations to celebrate. The live broadcast captures the vibrant fireworks, light shows, and festivities as midnight sweeps across the globe. However, not all planned celebrations are proceeding. In a significant departure from tradition, Hong Kong will not host its famous Victoria Harbour fireworks display. This decision follows a devastating fire in November that claimed at least 161 lives. Instead, the city's tourism board will present a music show in Central, featuring soft rock duo Air Supply.

In London, a major viewing spot has been closed off. Primrose Hill in Camden, which attracted an estimated 30,000 people for its panoramic views of the capital's fireworks in 2024, will be inaccessible this year. Officials have confirmed the park's gates will be locked from 8pm, a move that has frustrated some residents and would-be celebrants. Opaque green hoarding has been erected around the park in what locals have described as an "unprecedented" measure.

Safety Concerns Behind London Closure

The decision to close Primrose Hill was made by The Royal Parks charity, which manages the site. They stated that their capacity to manage the large crowds typically drawn to the event would be "severely diminished." This is partly due to the closure of The Metropolitan Police’s Royal Parks Operational Command Unit. Commander Nick John, leading the Met’s New Year’s Eve policing, strongly advised the public: "The Royal Parks are urging people not to try to gather at Primrose Hill this year and we would echo those calls. Please make alternative plans. Anyone trying to access the park will find that it is not possible."

A Chilly Celebration for the UK

For those in the UK who do venture out to authorised displays, forecasters are warning of a cold start to 2026. Forecaster Simon Partridge told the Press Association it will be "cold regardless of where you are" as the new year begins. He predicted clear skies and light winds for London at midnight, with temperatures hovering around a chilly 1-2°C. Revellers are being advised to wrap up warm and wear extra layers if they are heading outdoors.

The global livestream provides an ideal solution for those whose plans have been affected by closures or who wish to experience celebrations from multiple world cities from the comfort and safety of their homes. As the planet turns into 2026, the broadcast ensures nobody has to miss the spectacle.
