Disney has announced a new documentary about the iconic band Oasis, directed by Steven Knight, the creator of Peaky Blinders. The film is set to be released on September 11 and will chronicle the band's massive 2025 comeback tour, including the first joint interview between once-estranged brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher in 25 years.
First Look at the Gallaghers
A first-look image shows the siblings in high spirits, with Liam, 53, appearing to tell a joke to Noel, 58, leaving him in stitches before they take the stage. The brothers' famously turbulent relationship led to Oasis's breakup 15 years ago, following a series of backstage altercations, walkouts, and alcohol-fueled arguments. However, last year they reunited for an epic 41-date world tour, which kicked off with a massive show at Cardiff's Principality Stadium in front of over 70,000 fans.
What the Documentary Will Include
The as-yet-untitled film will also feature footage from the tour's rehearsals, as well as the siblings' onstage and offstage antics. Knight expressed his excitement, stating: 'I genuinely cannot wait for the world to see this film. I believe it captures the spirit and emotion of a global cultural moment and does justice to the wit and genius of two exceptional people.' He added: 'I wanted to tell the story of the brothers and the band, but just as important, the story of the fans whose lives the music has touched and sometimes changed forever. It is also the story of how music and songwriting can unite generations, cultures, countries, and in a time of spite and division, give us all some reason to hope.'
Comparisons to The Beatles' Get Back
The documentary is believed to replicate the style of Disney+'s The Beatles: Get Back, following Noel and Liam Gallagher in the run-up to their highly anticipated 2025 gigs. A source previously told The Sun: 'This is set to be the film of the decade, with Apple TV+ proposing huge money to bag the rights to this documentary. They are facing competition from other streamers such as Amazon Prime and Netflix, but Apple has thrown all its weight behind this one. Fans can expect it to be in the same style as the Beatles documentary, which gave a never-before-seen insight into the band.'
Noel's Recent Praise for Liam
Noel recently praised his brother Liam while accepting the Songwriter of the Year award at the 2026 BRIT Awards. The Oasis rocker, 58, was honored at the annual ceremony at the Co-op Live Arena. Despite their famously turbulent relationship following the split of Oasis in 2009, Noel publicly acknowledged Liam, 53, and his role in their shared musical legacy. Noel bluntly said: 'Yes, Manchester! I'm gonna start by saying I've got to thank my brother. And Bonehead, Guigsy, and Andy and Gem. Without them I'd just be a singer-songwriter and nobody gives a s*** about singer-songwriters.' The High Flying Birds frontman was introduced by Pep Guardiola, the manager of his beloved football team Manchester City, and he issued a rallying cry for City that divided the crowd at the Co-Op Live Arena. Noel added: 'Up the f****** blues.'
