Meghan Markle 'struggling to recruit UK talent'

Meghan Markle is struggling to recruit talent to work for her in the UK, a source claims. The Duchess of Sussex is seeking people to join her team in Britain, including an executive assistant, but insiders have told the Naughty But Nice Substack newsletter that getting the best candidates has been tricky after highly publicised reports of staff turnover.

Source claims top candidates 'aren't biting'

A source told the publication: "Meghan can offer a glamorous title, but the best people aren't biting." Naughty But Nice writer Rob Shuter reported the source as claiming people ask why things would be different for them after noting the number of staffers who have left Meghan's team. The Duchess is reportedly "furious" with those already working for her.

An insider told Shuter that Meghan "exploded" after no one spotted an unlit gas hob in an image used to promote As Ever. While the photo failed to prove the Duchess was not cooking, it was targeted by her critics.

Team blamed for brand ridicule

The same insider said Meghan expected her team to protect her brand from ridicule. Royal fans took to social media to point out the possible error after the Duchess posted the image on Instagram. They were quick to notice the hob wasn't on, with one X user posting: "Her lack of attention to detail couldn’t be written. She personally provides all of the ammunition needed to mock her until the end of time."

Shuter's source claimed that Meghan blames her team in the US when things go wrong and prospective hires in the UK see this. The source suggested nobody wants to become the next person blamed or the next departure to make the headlines.

Staff departures and recent praise

Media reports suggest more than 20 people have left working with the Sussexes over the years since they stepped back as working members of the Royal Family. This includes former chief of staff Josh Kettler and Mandana Dayani, who was president of the Sussexes' Archewell venture.

The claims compare to Meghan's recent praise for her staff. In an Instagram post on Tuesday the Duchess said she felt "very proud" of As Ever and thanked her team as she launched her Holiday Collection. In a nod to the Instagram account thetiglets, run by Meghan supporters, and her own previous lifestyle blog The Tig, she added: "As I shared years ago on The Tig (PS, love you ladies thetiglets): 'Behind every successful woman is herself' – and that’s true... but there’s more: a community of love, a squad of support, an amazing team.

"As I pinch myself looking at how this brand has grown, and as we introduce our holiday collection, I feel very proud, and grateful. A huge thanks to my team at aseverofficial. So proud of what we are creating together. Thanks for helping bring this vision to life."

After unveiling her £112 luxury advent calendar last week, Meghan added a wicker Pantry Basket costing £195, a Parlour Basket for £182, and a Hostess Basket for £159 to her limited edition products. Each one includes an assortment of As Ever staples, with the most expensive product, the Pantry Basket, containing three jams, two jars of honey, flower sprinkles, three herbal teas, a hot toddy mulling spice kit and a spiced cider version. Other items for sale include a Treasures of the Orchard chocolate covered fruit gift box for £56.

Among Meghan’s clips was previously seen footage, which the duchess shared on Instagram in 2025, of Princess Lilibet helping her make jam, and saying in an American accent: "I think it’s beautiful." Prince Harry is seen in one photo, wearing shorts and a T-shirt, standing with his hands on his hips and smiling, as Meghan crouches down to look at an As Ever hamper. Meghan, in footage which was also shared by her make-up artist friend Daniel Martin in 2018, is shown racing to eat raspberries off her fingers.
