Royal Dilemma: Beatrice and Eugenie May Skip Easter Gathering Amid Family Scandal

Royal Expert Advises Beatrice and Eugenie to Avoid Easter Gathering

The Royal Family is preparing for one of its most significant annual gatherings in the coming weeks, with the traditional Easter celebration at Windsor Castle fast approaching. All eyes will be on whether Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie join King Charles and other relatives for the Easter Sunday church service at St George's Chapel.

Background of the Controversy

This potential absence follows the sisters' attendance at the Christmas gathering at Sandringham less than three months ago, despite their parents, Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, being forced to stay away due to revelations about their association with convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein. Since then, further scandals have emerged, including the arrest of the former Duke of York on suspicion of misconduct in a public office.

Royal expert Jennie Bond, a former BBC royal correspondent, believes it might be prudent for Beatrice and Eugenie to stay away from the Easter event. In an exclusive statement to the Mirror, Bond explained, "I’m sure the women care about the damage that has been done to the royal family, and it seems to me that the best way to support their uncle and cousins is to keep their distance for the foreseeable future."

Strategic Distance Recommended

Bond suggested that the princesses could relieve King Charles of a difficult decision by informing him they are otherwise engaged during Easter and Royal Ascot week. "Like it or not, they would draw unwelcome press attention to themselves if they were to join the rest of the royals, so it might be better for all involved if they keep a low profile for now," she added.

Since the scandal involving their parents erupted, both Beatrice and Eugenie have maintained a relatively low profile, refraining from public statements. When Andrew was stripped of his royal titles last October, his daughters retained their princess titles, but their positions in the line of succession have come under scrutiny.

Line of Succession Concerns

Beatrice is currently ninth in line to the throne, while Eugenie holds the twelfth position, behind Beatrice's children. Some royal watchers have begun questioning whether Beatrice, Eugenie, and their children might also be removed from the line of succession following Andrew's arrest.

According to reports in the Times, removing Andrew from the succession is "constitutionally complex", and any legislation would need to explicitly address the status of his children and grandchildren. This adds another layer of uncertainty to the princesses' royal standing.

Further Revelations and Public Perception

Meanwhile, documents related to the Epstein case have suggested that Sarah Ferguson took Beatrice and Eugenie to visit the paedophile shortly after his release from jail. Bond highlighted the growing public curiosity, stating, "There’s no denying that questions are now being asked about whether Beatrice and Eugenie ever queried where the family’s money and lavish lifestyle came from."

She continued, "What did they think of their parents’ friendship with a man who has been jailed for sex offences? How much did they know about Epstein? No-one is suggesting they did anything wrong, but are they slightly tainted by the behaviour of their parents?"

As the Royal Family navigates these turbulent times, the decision of whether Beatrice and Eugenie attend the Easter gathering remains a focal point, symbolising the broader challenges facing the monarchy amidst ongoing scandals.
