Olympic champion Adam Peaty has reportedly banned his own mother from attending his upcoming wedding to influencer Holly Ramsay, according to explosive claims from family members.
The Wedding Ban That Broke a Mother's Heart
Caroline Peaty, the swimmer's mother, allegedly discovered she was uninvited from the star-studded Bath Abbey ceremony while returning her five-year-old grandson George to his mother. The devoted grandmother apparently had to conceal her profound distress from the young child, masking what relatives describe as deep feelings of hurt and betrayal.
The situation became particularly painful given that Caroline had been excluded from Holly Ramsay's glamorous hen do celebrations, instead being left with grandmother duties while the wedding preparations continued without her. The absence was especially notable as Adam's future father-in-law, celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay, had been included in the stag do festivities.
Family Tensions Escalate to Police Involvement
The family drama took an even more serious turn when Adam's brother, James Peaty, was arrested following allegations he sent threatening messages to the Olympic athlete during his Budapest stag weekend. The 34-year-old was apprehended at his Uttoxeter home in Staffordshire and has since been released on bail.
According to family sources, Holly Ramsay alerted police after Adam received concerning text messages during his celebrations. However, relatives have since claimed the situation was misunderstood, with one source describing it as ridiculous that police became involved when James allegedly had no intention of harming his brother.
The swimmers father, Mark Peaty, has now broken his silence on the escalating family conflict. He told The Sun: They're brothers, they've always been close, but like any normal family, brothers fight, argue, fall out, make up and start all over again. But it's got out of hand, there's been very little empathy towards Jamie's genuine mental health difficulties.
Allegations of Betrayal and Changing Loyalties
Adam's aunt, Louise Williams, has been vocal in her defence of sister Caroline, taking to social media to express her outrage at the treatment she claims her sister has endured. In emotional Instagram comments, Louise alleged that Adam described his mother as a crap mother despite the many sacrifices she made to support his swimming career.
Louise revealed the extraordinary lengths the working-class family went to in supporting Adam's Olympic dreams, including getting into debt and maintaining early morning training schedules. She wrote: My heart breaks for Caroline. She loves her children so much, and this has broken her. She does not deserve this at all.
The tension apparently began when Caroline failed to attend a family trip to Bath due to cancelled trains, with some relatives suggesting this was the catalyst for her being banned from the wedding. The situation has reportedly escalated to the point where Caroline has been barred from seeing her grandson George.
Meanwhile, financial considerations have also emerged as a point of contention, with many family members reportedly unable to afford the expensive accommodation and travel required for the wedding celebrations. One relative revealed: We were sent a 'save the date,' and it's all these country houses. I'm on Universal Credit — I can't afford that.
Family members have expressed concerns that Adam has become ashamed of his working-class roots, with one source claiming he has been changed by money, fame and fortune. According to relatives, Adam's sister Bethany will be the only family member from his side attending the wedding.
Caroline Peaty has since disabled comments on her social media posts, including one where she shared a poignant quote: Crying is a way your eyes speak when your mouth can't explain how broken your heart is.
The Mirror has approached Adam Peaty's representatives for comment regarding these allegations.
