YouTube Star Look Mum No Computer Reveals Eurovision 2026 Song

In a surprising and innovative move, the United Kingdom has selected YouTube sensation Look Mum No Computer as its representative for the 2026 Eurovision Song Contest. The musician, whose real name is Sam Battle, will perform the original track titled "Eins, Zwei, Drei," which translates to "one, two, three" in German. This announcement was made during Scott Mills' breakfast show on BBC Radio 2 on Monday, 2 March 2026, marking a bold step for the UK in the iconic music competition.

A Unique Musical Journey

Sam Battle, based in Kent, has carved out a niche as a creative force in the music world. He first gained attention as the frontman of the indie-rock band Zibra, which performed at Glastonbury in 2015 on the BBC Introducing stage. Since then, he has embarked on a solo career through YouTube, amassing over 710,000 subscribers with his unique approach to instrument-building.

On his popular channel, Battle showcases his talent for crafting musical instruments from unconventional materials. Notable creations include an organ made from a Furby, a synthesiser integrated with a Raleigh Chopper bicycle, and a triple oscillator synthesiser constructed from Nintendo Game Boy consoles. This DIY ethos and inventive spirit are expected to bring a fresh and eclectic vibe to his Eurovision performance.

Eurovision Excitement and Challenges

The 2026 Eurovision Song Contest will be held in Vienna, Austria, following Austria's narrow victory in the 2025 contest with JJ's song "Wasted Love." This year's competition is particularly significant as it marks the 70th edition of Eurovision, but it also faces challenges with a reduced number of participating countries.

Iceland, Ireland, the Netherlands, Slovenia, and Spain are boycotting the event due to the decision to allow Israel to compete amid the ongoing war in Gaza. This has led to the smallest number of countries participating since 2003, when semi-finals were introduced. Despite this, the BBC has expressed support for the European Broadcasting Union's inclusive stance, emphasizing the importance of upholding the rules of the competition.

Battle's Vision for Eurovision

In a statement, Sam Battle shared his enthusiasm for representing the UK, calling it "completely bonkers" and an "absolute honour." He said, "I have always been a massive Eurovision fan, and I love the magical joy it brings to millions of people every year. I've been working a long-time creating, writing, and producing my own visions from scratch, and I will be bringing every ounce of my creativity to my performances. I hope Eurovision is ready to get synthesised!"

The song "Eins, Zwei, Drei" will receive its first public airplay on Scott Mills' BBC Radio 2 show this Friday, 6 March 2026. Battle aims to avoid the dreaded "nil points" and bring a unique, synth-driven performance to the stage in Vienna, blending his YouTube fame with the grand tradition of Eurovision.
