Fetty Wap Unveils 'Zavier' Album Following Prison Release
Melodic rapper Fetty Wap has returned to the music scene with his latest album 'Zavier', marking his first major release since being freed from federal prison earlier this year. The Paterson, New Jersey-born artist, whose real name is Willie Maxwell II, was released to home confinement in January after serving just over half of a six-year sentence for involvement in a drug trafficking scheme.
A Swift Return to the Studio
Fetty Wap wasted no time diving back into his musical career upon his release. He began working on 'Zavier' on January 7, 2026, and completed the album by January 10, a remarkably fast turnaround that underscores his creative drive after years of incarceration. "I had a lot to say," he explained. "It's been a few years of holding things in there."
During his time behind bars, the rapper missed many aspects of life, including his family, children, and simple pleasures like driving and eating. Music remained a constant passion, and he channeled that energy into 'Zavier', which features 17 tracks selected from a pool of 123 songs created with collaborators.
A New Chapter and Reintroduction
This album represents both a reintroduction and a fresh start for Fetty Wap. His previous album, 'King Zoo', was released in 2023 while he was still incarcerated, limiting his involvement due to prison restrictions like 15-minute phone calls. In contrast, 'Zavier' allowed him to be hands-on in the studio, which he describes as his "safe haven."
"The whole 'Zavier' thing is just, like, bring back the same energy as the 'Fetty Wap' album," he said, referencing his 2015 breakthrough record that included the hit 'Trap Queen'. "Just a more matured sound. 'Zavier' is just an upgraded Fetty Wap." The album's title reflects a different side of himself post-prison, with "Zavier" symbolizing his personal evolution.
Diverse Sounds and Collaborations
Listeners can expect a wide range of styles on 'Zavier', from fun and lustful tracks to more serious and tender moments. Fetty Wap emphasizes that it's not a concept album focused solely on his prison experience. "I didn't want it to be an emotional album," he noted. "Where's the fun Fetty?"
Key tracks include 'I Remember' featuring Chicago rapper G Herbo, which offers a diaristic look at his life stages, and 'White Roses', his personal favorite, which features doo-wop-style harmonies from his sisters. The album also boasts collaborations with artists like Wiz Khalifa, Tink, Honey Bxby, Doe Boy, and Max B, the latter of whom was also recently released from prison.

Fetty Wap hopes that 'Zavier' conveys "good energy, positivity" to his audience. He is not seeking sympathy but rather aims for listeners to enjoy the music and provide feedback for future improvements.
