From Cobbles to Countryside: A Sudden Exit

In a surprising turn of events for British radio drama, Charlotte Jordan, best known for her role as Daisy Midgeley on Coronation Street, has abruptly left her new part in the long-running BBC series The Archers. The departure has left producers scrambling to find a replacement for the role of newcomer Amber, a part Jordan had only held since June of this year.

A New Opportunity Calls

The reason for the sudden exit is a promising new career move. Jordan has landed a leading role in the upcoming BBC period drama The Hairdresser Mysteries. This new series will see her star alongside well-known faces such as Sally Phillips and Charlotte Hope. The drama follows the character Lily Petal, played by Phillips, as she moves to a small village and uncovers secrets held by its residents.

A spokesperson for The Archers confirmed the cast change to Metro, stating: "After a brilliant performance as Amber, Charlotte Jordan is taking time to pursue other projects and so we are delighted to be welcoming Olivia Bernstone to the cast, who will play the role of Amber going forward." This confirms that Olivia Bernstone has now officially taken over the part.

Bidding Farewell to Weatherfield and Beyond

This isn't the first major exit for Charlotte Jordan this year. She left her prominent role as Daisy Midgeley on Coronation Street back in May 2024. Daisy, the stepdaughter of Jenny Connor, first arrived on the famous cobbles in 2020 and was central to many dramatic storylines.

Following her final episode, Jordan shared an emotional video message with her followers. She expressed how it had been "an honour to be a little piece of the Corrie history" and that she would miss the show "very, very much." She revealed that she had cried "on and off for about four hours straight" before filming her last scenes, becoming so emotional that she found it difficult to cry during her final scene with co-star Rob Mallard.

Jordan had informed Coronation Street bosses the previous year that she would not be renewing her contract, allowing them ample time to craft a suitable exit storyline for her character. Her career continues to evolve, moving from the iconic ITV soap to a BBC radio drama and now to a major new television period production.
