Gogglebox personality Amy Tapper proudly displayed her glamorous new look on Thursday, marking a remarkable transformation after shedding an impressive eight stone. The 26-year-old television star, who has reduced from a size 26 to a size 18 through a combination of prescription medication and consistent exercise, captured a selfie while hosting a traditional Passover meal with close friends.
A Dramatic Physical Transformation
Amy styled her hair in soft, loose curls and completed her appearance with a delicate application of blusher and rich berry lipstick. In additional photographs shared from the gathering, she beamed alongside companions, captioning one image "My besties at my Seder." The reality star first joined the Channel 4 programme Gogglebox at just thirteen years old alongside her mother Nikki, father Jonathan, and brother Josh.
Medical Intervention and Exercise Regimen
Amy recently disclosed that doctors prescribed her the weight loss injection Mounjaro precisely as she was considering gastric bypass surgery. Despite achieving significant success, her substantial weight reduction has resulted in loose skin that she acknowledges will require surgical correction. Speaking exclusively to the Daily Mail, Amy explained: "Unfortunately and inevitably, when you've lost as much weight as eight stone, and there's gonna be more, there's a lot of skin that is just not gonna disappear with exercise."
She elaborated: "It's not possible, you know? It's stones and stones of fat and it's now just skin. My arms and my tummy are definitely gonna need surgery at some point, but my legs are actually OK." With characteristic humour, she added: "These little side bad boys are really toning up."
Addressing Criticism and Maintaining Routine
While some online critics have accused the television personality of "cheating" by using medication for weight management, Amy maintains she has sustained a rigorous workout schedule throughout her journey. This exercise regimen has also assisted in toning some of the excess skin on her body. "I've been with the same personal trainer for five years," Amy stated. "I love going to the gym anyway, just mentally, it makes the biggest difference to my week, and hand-in-hand with Mounjaro."
Medication Details and Progress
Amy has been administering a weekly 15mg dose of Mounjaro since February, gradually increasing from an initial 2.5mg dosage. During the peak of her weight loss, she shed five pounds within just one week of beginning the medication, and six months later had lost four stone. She emphasized: "I'm still eating less and moving more, but I'm doing it hand-in-hand with the weight loss medication and it's working as the most perfect pair."
Campaign Against Stigma and Bullying
Amy has partnered with online pharmacy Chemist4U to reclaim the phrase "eat less, move more" after research revealed that seven in ten people using weight loss medications feel judged for their treatment choices. DJ Fat Tony has recorded a new house track titled "Already Doing It" for the campaign, appearing alongside Amy in the accompanying music video.
While sharing her weight loss journey online, Amy has received considerable support from fans who describe her as an "inspiration," but she has also faced significant trolling that has impacted her mental wellbeing. During a recent appearance on Good Morning Britain, she emotionally revealed: "I do think of myself as strong minded and whatever they say to me I can say a lot worse about myself. But of course it affects you. No one is super human and I can be strong and confident, but when I've put all this work in, I do just kind of have to laugh about it."
Confronting Online Harassment
"The online trolls come in and it sort of affects your peacefulness in your head," Amy continued. "This eat less move more, it's put there as some sort of an insult. But if you're doing that with the weight loss medication side by side, it's the most perfect pair so I don't know why it's bothering anyone." She urged others not to grant excessive power to external opinions, concluding: "I think you're doomed if you do and doomed if you don't so why not just do it?"
Chemist4U has launched a substantial anti-bullying campaign in collaboration with the National Bullying Helpline, featuring both DJ Fat Tony and Gogglebox star Amy Tapper working to reclaim the phrase "eat less, move more" from negative connotations.
