Dozens of families have branded a much-anticipated hot air balloon festival a "complete rip-off" after the event failed to meet expectations, leaving attendees frustrated and demanding refunds.
Visitors who paid for tickets expecting a sky filled with colourful balloons were left disappointed when only a handful took flight, with many blaming poor organisation and misleading advertising.
Promises vs Reality
One attendee, who wished to remain anonymous, said: "We were promised a spectacular display, but it was a total letdown. Hardly any balloons flew, and the ones that did barely left the ground."
Another frustrated parent added: "The kids were so excited, but there was nothing to see. We spent a fortune on tickets, food, and parking—only to leave feeling cheated."
Organisers Respond
Event organisers have since apologised, citing "unfavourable weather conditions" as the reason for the lack of balloons. However, many attendees argue that forecasts were available in advance and that the event should have been postponed or refunds issued.
A spokesperson said: "We regret any disappointment caused and are reviewing feedback to improve future events."
Demands for Refunds
Many ticket-holders are now calling for compensation, with some taking to social media to share their grievances. One Twitter user wrote: "Save your money—this festival is a scam!"
Consumer rights groups have advised affected visitors to formally request refunds if the event did not deliver as advertised.
