A devastated festival enthusiast has revealed how her £16,000 dream trip to Tomorrowland ended in disaster after a fire forced the event's cancellation.
The woman, who had saved up for months to attend the world-famous electronic music festival in Belgium, was left heartbroken when organisers announced the cancellation just hours before the opening ceremony.
A Dream Turned to Ashes
"I'd been planning this for over a year," she told reporters. "Flights, VIP tickets, accommodation – everything was booked. Then we woke up to news of the fire and everything was cancelled."
Dramatic footage showed flames engulfing part of the festival site, with thick black smoke visible for miles. Emergency services worked through the night to contain the blaze.
No Refund Guarantees
Organisers have promised to investigate refund options, but with insurance policies often excluding "acts of God" like fires, many attendees face losing thousands.
"It's not just the ticket money," the woman explained. "There's hotels, outfits, all the extras you buy for a festival. I feel completely devastated."
Festival Safety Under Scrutiny
The incident has raised fresh questions about safety at major music events. Fire safety experts have called for stricter regulations on temporary structures at festivals.
Tomorrowland, which attracts over 400,000 visitors annually, has never previously experienced such a catastrophic cancellation.
For now, heartbroken fans are left counting the cost – both financial and emotional – of their festival dreams going up in smoke.
