The Countess of Wessex has been praised for adopting many fashion tips from her mother-in-law, the Queen, following a royal visit to Scotland this week. Sophie joined the 96-year-old monarch as she returned to duties after the Platinum Jubilee.
Tamara Abraham, acting senior fashion editor at the Telegraph, noted that Sophie has evolved a signature look. "At 57, Sophie has never looked better and it’s probably because she understands the shapes, cuts and colours that suit her best," she said. "They are lessons that have come directly from Her Majesty’s style playbook."
Abraham pointed to Sophie’s tailored blazers over full-skirted midi dresses as a departure from the Queen’s block-coloured coats. The Countess also favours Sophie Habsburg handbags, while the Queen has used Launer bags exclusively since 1950.
Footwear is another area where Sophie mirrors royal style. The Queen wears shoes by Anello & Davide, creators of Judy Garland’s ruby slippers, while Sophie has been spotted in Penelope Chilvers’ Tango heels, a brand also worn by the Duchess of Cambridge.
