Netflix viewers are captivated by the streaming platform's newest survival series, Outlast: The Jungle. Since its debut on June 10, the show has rapidly climbed the UK Top 10 Chart.
What Is Outlast: The Jungle?
In this ultimate reality TV survival game, reminiscent of The Island with Bear Grylls, 16 contestants must endure the harsh conditions of a remote tropical island. They face not only the elements but also psychological and social challenges from their fellow competitors. Netflix teases: "As alliances shift and strategies evolve, the question remains: Who will have the resilience, cunning, and teamwork necessary to claim the million-dollar prize and emerge victorious from the depths of the Panamanian jungle?"
How Many Episodes Are There?
The series consists of eight episodes in total. The first six episodes are already available, with the final two instalments scheduled to drop on Wednesday, June 17. Fans have been binge-watching and taking to social media to express their opinions about the contestants.
Who Is Still in the Running?
At the end of episode six, nine competitors remain: Sarah Awad, Abby Chu, Morgan Colburn, Braxton Fish, Pharaoh Gayles, Nikki Hru, Maddy Jones, Leiya Pillitteri, and Wes Saunders. Almost half of the original 16 contestants have already been eliminated.
Early Exits and Departures
- Mary Wedell left early after no team wanted to take her in.
- Sean Jacobs withdrew due to burns.
- Dave Cecchini made a sacrifice: after each team received a letter offering a resource in exchange for a player, he left so his team could have fire.
- Marshall Strain quit after 26 days because he missed his family.
- Halle Cooley used the flare gun to quit during a challenge.
