John Torode and Lisa Faulkner's Daily Diet Revealed Amid Show Axe Fears
Torode and Faulkner's Daily Diet and Show Uncertainty

Celebrity couple John Torode and Lisa Faulkner have offered a fascinating glimpse into their daily eating routines, revealing how they maintain a varied and passionate approach to food. The former MasterChef host, aged 60, and the Holby City actress, 53, who tied the knot in 2019, emphasise keeping their diets diverse and interesting.

Inside the Torode-Faulkner Fridge

In an exclusive reveal, Lisa Faulkner explained to Closer magazine readers that they strive for simplicity at breakfast, often opting for overnight oats with apple and blueberries. John Torode typically prefers a homemade kefir with greens or a boiled egg on toast. The pair always keep homemade granola on hand, usually served with yoghurt, ensuring a nutritious start to their day.

Lunch and Dinner Preferences

For lunch, the couple frequently relies on leftovers, as they always have plenty to choose from in their well-stocked kitchen. Dinner varies regularly, but they highlighted roast chicken as one of their all-time favourite meals. This flexibility allows them to enjoy a range of culinary experiences while sticking to wholesome ingredients.

Snacks and Special Treats

John and Lisa always keep a bottle of fizz ready "for good news," adding a celebratory touch to their routine. Their cupboards are stocked with snacks like cheese straws from M&S and chocolate, providing indulgent treats. Other items found in their fridge include kimchi, pickled gherkins, sauerkraut, brie, almond milk, chocolate oat milk, Dijon mustard, and satsumas, showcasing their eclectic tastes.

Uncertainty Over Weekend Kitchen

This dietary reveal comes amid reports that their ITV cookery show, Weekend Kitchen, is set to be axed, despite the broadcaster's earlier vow to stand by Torode. The chef was fired by the BBC earlier this year after an allegation emerged that he had used "extremely offensive racist language in 2018," which he claims to have "no recollection of."

Show's Future in Doubt

John Torode's exit from MasterChef followed just weeks after co-star Gregg Wallace, 61, was also dismissed over allegations about his sexualised on-set behaviour. Although ITV previously expressed support for Torode, the future of Weekend Kitchen, which debuted in the same year as his wedding to Lisa, now appears unlikely. The final episode of the show's tenth series, a festive special, aired last week.

A source commented, "John is facing a nervous wait about Weekend Kitchen, but it's not looking good. The commissioning team have still not made a decision. Budgets are being slashed, and the show is expensive to make." They added, "It will be a major blow to John. He had a really tough time after being sacked from the BBC."

Moving Forward with New Projects

Despite these challenges, Torode is pushing forward with Lisa and working hard on a new YouTube cooking show, which has been well-received. Earlier this month, John revealed he has been undergoing therapy to cope with the fallout of his sacking, learning how to "sit in his grief" and "be real" instead of "brave."

In a post on the writers' platform Substack, he wrote, "Life has changed forever for me and for those close to me. There is no sympathy searching here, just honesty." He continued, "Therapy over the past few months has entitled me to no longer 'be brave' but instead be real." In his newsletter, John also mentioned working in Qatar and described visiting the Grand Prix there as his first attempt at "facing my grief alone," without his wife.

Daily Mail contacted representatives for John and Lisa for comment at the time, while ITV declined to comment. The couple's resilience and dedication to their culinary passions remain evident as they navigate both personal and professional hurdles.
