Television presenter Tess Daly has been enjoying quality family time on the slopes of the French Alps, sharing cheerful photos from a ski trip just weeks after her daughter announced a major life change and she presented her final episode of Strictly Come Dancing.
A Frosty Family Getaway
The 56-year-old star took to Instagram on Friday to post a series of pictures from the holiday, appearing in high spirits. She was wrapped up against the cold in a cosy white woollen jacket and cream trousers, with her blonde hair worn down. Her look was finished with black boots and stylish sunglasses.
Her 21-year-old daughter, Phoebe, showcased her own ski style in a shiny silver coat paired with burgundy and white patterned trousers, accessorised with a dark handbag. Tess also shared snaps with her husband of over two decades, Vernon Kay, 51, who sported a matching black jacket, trousers and beanie hat. Their younger daughter, 16-year-old Amber, was also part of the family excursion.
"Hitting the slopes for the first time since I was 17 made for an eventful trip last week," Tess captioned the post.
Phoebe's Transatlantic Move
The family holiday comes hot on the heels of a significant announcement from eldest daughter Phoebe. On Thursday, the 21-year-old revealed she had relocated to New York City, sharing a photo of herself at a rooftop bar in the Big Apple.
She hinted the move might be temporary, captioning the snap: "Home for a while..." She also updated her Instagram bio to read: "Heyyyy LDN/NYC." Phoebe has not disclosed the reason behind her transatlantic shift or its duration, but it is a recent development. She was still in the UK in December to support her mother backstage at the Strictly Come Dancing final.
A Royal Farewell to Strictly
That final, broadcast in December, marked the end of an era. It was the last live show hosted by Tess Daly and her co-presenter Claudia Winkleman after their joint decision to leave the BBC programme after more than 20 years. The duo, who started hosting in 2004, announced their departure in a video statement in September.
The emotional finale featured a special tribute, but the hosts were reportedly stunned when judge Craig Revel Horwood read out a heartfelt letter from Her Majesty Queen Camilla. The Queen's message praised their "warmth, compassion, and sheer happiness," calling theirs "perhaps the greatest strictly partnership of all." She concluded by urging them to "keep dancing."
Following the final, Phoebe posted a touching tribute to her mother on Instagram, calling Tess "a true inspiration" and stating she would "forever be the show's number one fan."
The family ski trip in the French Alps, therefore, represents a joyful interlude for the Daly-Kay family, celebrating time together amidst a period of significant professional conclusions and exciting new beginnings for the next generation.
