Former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Teddi Mellencamp has bravely shared details of her recent melanoma diagnosis, admitting she initially ignored the warning signs.
The 42-year-old reality TV personality revealed she'd been 'in denial' about a suspicious mole that was later confirmed as skin cancer. 'I kept putting off getting it checked,' Mellencamp confessed in an emotional Instagram post.
From Reality TV to Reality Check
Mellencamp, daughter of rock legend John Mellencamp, documented her journey through surgery to remove the cancerous growth. Graphic photos showed the extensive procedure required to excise the melanoma from her back.
'This is what stage 2 melanoma looks like,' she wrote alongside images of her stitches. 'If I had waited longer, I might not be here to share this.'
A Wake-Up Call for Fans
The fitness coach turned reality star urged followers to book immediate skin checks if they notice any changes in moles or pigmentation. 'Don't be like me and think it will go away,' she warned.
Medical experts emphasise that early detection dramatically improves melanoma survival rates. The NHS recommends checking skin monthly for:
- New moles or growths
- Changes in existing moles
- Irregular borders or colouring
- Lesions that itch or bleed
Mellencamp's candid post has sparked an outpouring of support from fellow Housewives alumni and health-conscious celebrities. Many praised her for using her platform to raise awareness about this increasingly common form of cancer.
