Taylor Swift's Eras Tour Becomes First to Gross Over $1bn

Taylor Swift's Eras tour has become the first tour to gross over $1bn, according to Pollstar's 2023 year-end charts. The concert trade publication reported that Swift's landmark tour brought in $1.04bn from 4.35m tickets sold across 60 dates.

Pollstar's data, collected from 17 November 2022 to 15 November 2023, is based on box office reports, venue capacity estimates, historical sales data and other research. It remains unclear whether past tour data was adjusted for inflation when declaring Swift the first to cross the billion-dollar threshold.

In addition to ticket sales, Swift generated approximately $200m in merchandise sales. Her concert film, 'Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour', has earned around $250m, making it the highest-grossing concert film of all time.

Pollstar projects that the Eras Tour will again reach $1bn in 2024, potentially bringing total earnings to over $2bn. Globally, the top tours of 2023 saw a 46% increase in revenue compared to 2022, with the top 100 tours earning $9.17bn.

Swift was also named Time Magazine's Person of the Year and Apple Music's Artist of the Year, and was Spotify's most-streamed artist globally in 2023 with over 26.1bn streams.
