Luke Littler Braces for 'Worst' Crowd Reaction After Ally Pally Boos
Luke Littler expects 'worst' after fiery Ally Pally response

Darts world champion Luke Littler is preparing for a hostile reception when he returns to the Alexandra Palace stage, after a fiery exchange with sections of the crowd during his latest victory.

Emotional Outburst After Unwanted Boos

The 18-year-old star, known as 'The Nuke', secured his place in the quarter-finals with a 4-2 win over Rob Cross on Monday night. However, the match was notable for the unexpected jeers directed at Littler from the Ally Pally audience, a first for him at the World Championship.

Littler did not shy away from responding in the moment, gesturing to the crowd. He has since stated he has no regrets about his reaction, attributing it to "pure emotion". "I said what I said," Littler remarked. "I was going to say it last year at some point, but the fans, they pay for the tickets. Pretty much they're paying for our prize money. So I'm not regretting anything."

Learning from the Experience

Despite the tension, Littler's performance remained elite. He averaged an impressive 106.58 and hit a tournament-record 17 180s up to that point in the competition. He acknowledged the incident as a learning opportunity in handling pressure.

"I can learn a lot," said Littler. "I can learn how to deal with the crowds a bit better, not let as much emotion out. Just keep it all in me until that final dart." He reflected on his personal growth, adding, "Two years ago, I think I would have started throwing my darts left handed, to be honest. But that's how much I've grown. That's how much I've matured."

Ready for New Year's Day Challenge

Littler now faces either Luke Woodhouse or Krzysztof Ratajski in the last eight on New Year's Day. He is under no illusions about the atmosphere that may await him.

"That's the first time I've been at the World Championship and the crowd haven't wanted me to win," he stated. "I expect the worst on New Year's Day, wherever I do play. And whatever happens, happens. I'm ready for New Year's Day."

The young champion concluded by focusing on the ultimate prize, saying, "I'm only a few games away from lifting the trophy once again." He admitted the high-stakes clash felt more intense than his stellar statistics suggested, due to the "adrenaline" and "anger" of the occasion, but was ultimately glad to have progressed.
