Tartan Army Defends Scottish Water After Viral Comment

The Tartan Army has brought the World Cup party spirit to Boston this month, but a recent comment about Scottish water has sparked a fierce defense from Scots online.

Viral Comment Triggers Response

In a TikTok video by NBC10 Boston, a city worker commented on the Tartan Army's drinking culture, saying: "They deep man and they can drink too. Are you kidding me? They must got no water over there in Scotland." The comment led to an overwhelming number of Scots jumping to defend their country's water quality.

One person stated: "Little does he know Scotland has the best water in the world." Another explained: "Scotland is immensely proud of their water, they just prefer the beer." A third added: "Ironic Scotland has top quality water and he's saying all we drink is alcohol."

Scots Proud of Water Quality

Even more people argued against the water comment, with one writing: "Funnily enough we have the best water too." Another clarified: "Our water is the best. We just love booze too." One Scot currently in America for the World Cup added: "Lol we have the best water. We are in Boston now and can’t believe the welcome we have received. Thank you from the bottom of my heart."

Drinking Prowess Recognized

Many people were also pleased that the Scots were getting recognized for their ability to drink. One person said: "'They deep man and they can drink too'. I love this experience for all of us for real." Meanwhile, some Americans are still shocked by reports, with a TikTok user adding: "Drinking Boston dry is a feat I never thought I’d see."

Cleanliness Praised

The city worker's comments were part of a clip where he praised the Scots for their cleanliness after many hours of partying in Fenway. The outlet wrote: "We found a city worker cleaning up after a Tartan Army party in Boston’s Fenway on Sunday (June 15). He said that, despite there being 1,800 or 2,000 people drinking and having fun, they left it so clean he didn’t need help tidying up."

The Boston local added: "After they're gone, I'm one person cleaning up after them and it ain't that bad. They conducted themselves with class, dignity and they like our city. So I'm happy they came." One Scotland fan noted that the tidy up was just about "respect", saying: "It costs nothing to be respectful. It costs nothing to be nice and just tidy up a bit of rubbish before you go."

World Cup Celebrations Continue

The celebrations in Boston are set to continue as Scotland competes in their next group stage matches against Morocco and Brazil.
