Newcastle Plate Day is set to welcome thousands of racegoers to Gosforth Park on June 27, and this year's post-racing entertainment will be bigger than ever. The annual event, a highlight of the summer calendar, offers a chance to enjoy racing action and socialize in a lovely setting. The racecourse is busy preparing for the full-on affair, with plenty of drink and food outlets and various ticket packages available.
Day Fever to Headline Post-Racing Entertainment
The post-racing entertainment will be delivered by Day Fever, a daytime club experience that begins after the last race. DJ Jonny Owen will play feelgood classic anthems from the 1980s to the 2000s, keeping spirits high. After that, many will want to continue the night in party mode, while others may want to catch England's next World Cup game.
New After-Party Venues Announced
This year, the official after-party will be hosted by two different bars closer to the racecourse: cocktail and gastro bar 97 & Social and cocktail hub Spy Bar, both on Jesmond's Osborne Road. The party will be spread across both venues, with DJs adding to the atmosphere and drinks deals on offer. Football fans will be pleased to know there are beer gardens and plenty of TVs to catch the World Cup action. Spy Bar, for instance, has 12 screens inside and two outdoors.
Free Shuttle Buses and Reservations
Free shuttle buses will be available following the last race, taking people from the racecourse directly to the venues. Tables can be reserved on Instagram or Facebook: see 97 & Social and Spy Bar for details.
