Fitness influencer Tammy Hembrow has publicly shared her revised approach to romance and dating in the wake of her divorce from ex-husband Matt Zukowski. The 31-year-old social media personality and the 30-year-old I'm A Celebrity star ended their marriage in June last year, after just seven months as a married couple.
A Hopeless Romantic Seeking a Slower Pace
In a candid interview with the Daily Telegraph, Tammy described herself as a "hopeless romantic" who easily gets swept up in the excitement of new love. She admitted this tendency has led her to rush into relationships in the past, a pattern she is now determined to change.
"I’m such a hopeless romantic and I get really swept up and I love love, so it is easy for me to just want to dive into something," Tammy told the publication. "I just want to meet new people and my approach now is to definitely take things a bit slower than I have, obviously, in my past public relationships."
She elaborated that her current focus is on fostering light-hearted and fun connections, prioritising genuinely getting to know a person rather than accelerating towards serious commitment.
Matt Zukowski's Perspective on the Split
The revelation comes as Matt Zukowski has broken his silence regarding the divorce and Tammy's subsequent, short-lived romance with AFL star Bailey Smith. Appearing on The Kyle & Jackie O Show, the 30-year-old expressed his reaction to seeing his ex-wife move on quickly after their separation.
"I don't think jealousy is the right word," Matt stated. "I was doing my own healing process, and when I saw that, I was like, 'Oh, okay.' No one likes to see the person they used to love and be married to hooking up with someone else. That's a knife to anyone's chest, man."
He confirmed there has been no contact whatsoever between the pair since announcing their divorce, reflecting on the marriage itself. "I don't think I'm the first person in history to think that a marriage is going to fix the problems in a relationship. And like I said, it didn't. It just progressively got worse."
Tammy's Post-Split Romances and Speculation
Just two months after the divorce announcement, Tammy was photographed kissing Geelong Cats AFL player Bailey Smith. However, Smith later appeared on the Today show to clarify that they are "just friends," describing Tammy as a close mate and an older, wiser mentor offering him advice.
The pair nonetheless capitalised on the media attention their rumoured fling generated, collaborating on a tongue-in-cheek promotional campaign for the dating app Tinder.
More recently, speculation has emerged that Tammy may be rekindling her relationship with ex-fiancé Reece Hawkins. Insiders suggest the fitness influencer has been spending time with Hawkins at her property on the Gold Coast.
