Snoop Dogg Offers Support to Daughter Following Tragic Loss of Baby Granddaughter
Legendary rapper Snoop Dogg has publicly expressed his support for his daughter, Cori Broadus, after the devastating death of her baby daughter, Codi Dreaux. The infant passed away at just 10 months old, having been born prematurely at 25 weeks gestation.
Heartbreaking Announcement on Social Media
Cori Broadus, aged 26, shared the tragic news on her Instagram account over the weekend. She posted a poignant black-and-white photograph showing her cradling her daughter, accompanied by an emotional caption that read: "Monday, I lost the love of my life. My Codi," followed by an angel wing emoji.
In a show of family solidarity, Snoop Dogg responded by sharing a picture featuring Cori alongside her brothers, Corde (31) and Cordell (28). The rapper added a love-heart and praying hands emoji to his post, conveying his support without words. Cordell Broadus also commented publicly, writing: "Lil sis, we got you forever."
Challenging Journey Following Premature Birth
The baby's difficult journey began last February when Broadus developed Hemolysis, Elevated Liver enzymes and Low Platelets (HELLP) syndrome during her pregnancy. This serious complication, considered a variant of preeclampsia, necessitated an emergency C-section delivery at just 25 weeks.
Following her premature birth, Codi spent the subsequent 10 months in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Throughout this challenging period, Broadus openly shared the emotional toll of the experience on social media, writing: "I've cried and cried, I've compared and compared, blaming myself that I wasn't able to give her all that she needed."
She added: "Thank You God for getting me this far no matter the odds that are constantly thrown against me."
Brief Homecoming Before Tragic Loss
Earlier this month, Broadus celebrated a significant milestone when she was able to bring her daughter home from hospital for the first time. On January 6, she posted a photograph of herself snuggling with Codi on her bed, writing: "She's home. Thank you for every prayer, every message, every ounce of love. God heard them all."
Broadus's fiancé, Wayne Deuce, also shared his profound grief publicly. He posted a photograph of himself holding Codi with the message: "I been the saddest since u left me Codi Dreaux. But I know u at peace. Daddy will always love you #LongLiveCodiDreaux."
Family's Emotional Journey Documented Online
Throughout Codi's time in the NICU, both parents had been documenting their emotional journey on social media. In July, Deuce shared a video showing him decorating Codi's hospital bed, writing: "I'm fenna cry man this is such a rollercoaster of emotions being a NICU parent."
He continued: "I'm so grateful and blessed to be here on this journey w my baby and her mom. We are the strongest team."
In a separate post during December, Deuce reflected on the challenges of caring for a premature baby, stating: "This isn't what anyone prepares you for. But this is where I show up.. every night, every morning, even when we exhausted in ways sleep can't fix."
He added a poignant observation about strength: "I've learned strength doesn't always look brave. Sometimes it looks like staying. Sometimes it looks like sitting in silence and holding hope together with praying hands."
