Shannon Elizabeth Files for Divorce Ahead of OnlyFans Debut
American actress Shannon Elizabeth, best known for her role as Nadia in the 1999 comedy American Pie, has recently filed for divorce from her husband Simon Borchert. This personal development comes just as she embarks on a new professional venture by joining the adult entertainment platform OnlyFans.
Fresh Separation and New Beginnings
According to a well-placed source speaking to People magazine, Elizabeth filed for divorce from Borchert "in the last few days". The insider described the separation as "rather fresh" and noted that Elizabeth now desires more freedom in her life. "Now that she is single, she wants to have a bit more freedom and be wild," the source revealed.
The 52-year-old actress, who currently resides in South Africa, appears to have confirmed the end of her marriage by updating her relationship status on Facebook. Elizabeth and Borchert, a South African wildlife conservationist, met in 2015 through her environmental activism and married in 2021.
OnlyFans Career Launch Explained
Elizabeth announced her OnlyFans account this week, providing an interview to People magazine where she explained her motivations for this career shift. "I've spent my entire career working in Hollywood, where other people controlled the narrative and the outcome of my career," she stated.
"This new chapter is about changing that, showing off a more sexy side no one has seen, and being closer to my fans," Elizabeth continued. "I'm choosing OnlyFans because it allows me to connect directly with my audience, create on my own terms, and just be free. I really do think this is the future."
Previous Marriage and Conservation Work
In a previous interview last year with Indiana radio station WWBL, Elizabeth spoke glowingly about Borchert, describing him as her "soulmate". She explained how they met during her first trip to South Africa for conservation work and reconnected through mutual friends after she relocated there.
"He grew up in conservation and his dad’s quite a well-known conservationist," Elizabeth recalled. "So, he actually made the move quite easy for me because I kind of just fell into the comfort of him being from here, being a local and being able to show me the ropes."
The couple worked together running her wildlife foundation, which Elizabeth described as challenging but rewarding. "We’re mirror images of each other. We want the same things, and we’re so aligned with everything that we love in the world," she said at the time.
Career Highlights and Previous Relationships
Elizabeth began her career as a model before achieving breakthrough success with American Pie in 1999, a role she reprised in two sequels. Her filmography includes notable appearances in:
- Scary Movie (2000)
- Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back (2001)
- Love Actually (2003)
- Cursed (2005)
She was previously married to actor Joseph D. Reitman, her co-star in Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back. The couple founded the Animal Avengers rescue charity in 2001, married in 2002, and separated in 2005.
Reflecting on her early career success, Elizabeth recently told Fox News Digital: "I'd never done anything that big. But I was auditioning a lot at the time, and I was so excited when I got the role." Her transition to OnlyFans marks a significant new direction as she navigates both personal and professional changes simultaneously.
